Big changes are on the way! Stay informed about important updates that may impact your renewal cycle.
Thursday October 8, 2026
We’re excited to share that beginning October 30, 2026, the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) will continue transitioning to a 2-year renewal cycle. Through this transition, licenses within this board will ultimately expire on the birthday of the designated broker (if issued for a brokerage or branch office) or on the licensee’s birthday (if issued for an individual).
Current Licensees: The salesperson, broker, company, and branch office licenses are already 2-year licenses, but they are moving from end of birth month to birthday.
- 2026 Renewal (starting October 30): Licenses will expire in 2028 on the licensee's birth date.
- 2027 Renewal: Licenses will expire in 2029 on the licensee's birth date.
New Applicants: All new applicants will be issued a license for a period of 1-year plus the months up to and including the next birth date of the designated broker (if issued for a brokerage) or 1-year plus the months up to and including the next birth date of the licensee, not to exceed a period of 2 years (if issued for an individual).
We understand that this process isn’t as simple as flipping a switch, but we’re confident this change will make things easier for you in the long run. Thank you for your continued flexibility as we implement more streamlined processes intended to support you, our professionals.
