Q: What is the difference between a Trainee Permit and Certification?

A:  The board may require the holder of a Trainee Permit to practice only under supervision and may limit the scope of practice depending on education. Certification is the form of licensure allowing acupuncture practice that is issued to health care providers already licensed in another profession.

Q: What is the difference between Certification and Licensure?

A:  Certification was created for practitioners who hold another professional license.  The scope of practice for Certification and Licensure are the same.
