How to apply for a license without an SSN

To be considered for a professional, or occupational license/registration without a social security number you must take these steps:

A. Send an email to the Board you wish to apply to. See Contact DOPL to find Board emails.

B. Include information about you:

  • Full name
  • Mailing address
  • Phone number and phone type (Cell, Business, Home)
  • Email used to register for DOPL Online Services

C. Include your supporting documents. Per Statute 73-122

To be considered for a professional, or occupational license/registration without a social security number you must provide the Division with the following documentation:

  1. Present written verification from the Social Security Administration that the applicant has not been assigned a social security number; and
  2. Submit a birth certificate, passport or other documentary evidence issued by an entity other than a state or the United States; and
  3. Submit proof of a Visa that authorizes the applicant to lawfully work in the United States. For more information, please see the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website Working in the United States
