Every person who possesses, manufactures, distributes, prescribes, administers, or conducts research with any controlled substance in the state shall obtain a registration issued by the Board of Pharmacy in accordance with Idaho law and follow applicable Federal law.

This includes the following practioners:

  • Dentistry (DDS)
  • Medicine (MD, DO)
  • Nursing (APRN)
  • Optometry (ODP)
  • Pharmacy (Pharmacist)
  • Podiatry (DPM)
  • Psychologist (PhD)
  • Naturopath MD (NMD)

According to Idaho Statute 37-2726, specified individuals are authorized to request prescription histories from the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) and can gain access through an online account. Recipients of dispensed controlled substances that are recorded in the PDMP database are allowed to request their own records. For further clarification, please send an email to PDMP@dopl.idaho.gov.
